In an alarming incident, the corregimiento of Liberia-El Charcón in Anorí, Antioquia, was the scene of an armed incursion by the Clan del Golfo, also known as the Gaitanista Army of Colombia (EGC), which lasted more than two hours. The situation, which began around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, left the community in a state of fear and anxiety.
Farmers reported that the armed group intimidated the population and confiscated the cell phones of several individuals. Witnesses recount that the presence of armed men created an atmosphere of fear, leading many to lock themselves inside their homes. According to reports, the attackers left the area around 1:00 p.m., but not before instilling concern among residents.
The North and Northeast Antioquia Peasant Association has called for intervention from authorities, as a military base is located just 20 minutes from the affected area. Farmers are urgently appealing to the Office of the Ombudsman to ensure their safety after formally filing a complaint about the incidents.
This incident is not isolated, as warnings about the illegal group's presence in the region had been raised since October 27, raising serious concerns about security in the area and the protection of its inhabitants.
